On May 16, 2010 at 10:30 am, Dundas Street United Church, 285 Dundas St. Woodstock will be celebrating its’ 125th anniversary. The service is entitled “Stepping Back & Stepping Out.” You are cordially invited to come and join us as we step back in time to the year 1885. Our story is of a church that has great determination, and through our faith in God, we overcome every challenge we meet. Various members of our church will help to take you back to our beginning. Our minister for the day, the Rev. Mr. G.W. Kerby will be welcoming the congregation as well as visitors, and will be telling the story of how we grew from a church of approximately 12 people to a church bursting at its seams with approximately 500 members. Everyone is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served after the service.
Congregational Goals
As a Christian congregation we seek to honour God in all that we say and do. With God’s help we provide a gathered worship service accessible to all who come, both those with deep roots in church life and those for whom Christian worship is a new (or renewed) experience. Both our doors and our hearts are wide open to all people.
We are deeply committed to serving the personal and spiritual needs unique to each stage of life’s journey. This commitment includes a strong emphasis on ministry to children, youth and the families in which they live. As well, we seek to provide opportunities for relationship building that values the gift of each and every person. We daily strive to establish at Dundas Street United Church a community of joy, compassion and trust.
God’s love has no boundaries. As we experience His love through each other we creatively find ways to share God’s amazing grace in practical ways – offering help and hope in the name of Jesus. We believe that all of us have a calling (or several callings) from God. We enjoy the life of discovering God’s calling and living it as we grow in faith together.
